Work has officially finished for Phase 1 of St Joseph’s College’s exciting expansion project.
Phase 1 of this project includes a bus shelter and waiting area, an improved drop-off zone, and a 50-space staff car park on the corner of Crown and MacKenzie Streets.
A new covered walkway now links the McAuley, Murphy, and Brennan lockers to a pick-up shelter facing onto Coronet Street, at the end of the improved pick-up/drop-off loop.
The reopened pick-up/drop-off route can now be fully accessed off Crown Street, looping behind the staff car park and ending back onto Crown Street.
The College buses will now also be protected from the elements with a designated, covered parking bay that also houses covered seating with ramp access to MacKenzie Street.
The College is thrilled that this project, designed by VHD Studio, was delivered to such a high standard by Bryant Building Contractors and look forward to seeing their excellent work on Phase 2 with the Mary Rice Building Extension.
Phase 2, which began construction several weeks ago, consists of three science classrooms, a prep lab, nine general classrooms, several multipurpose spaces, four offices, a senior student lounge, a gym and bathroom facilities. It is anticipated to be complete by the end of this year.
This project has been an integral part of SJC’s Towards 2024 Strategic Plan, and the College is excited to see it come to fruition.
